Retroid Pocket 2

Looks like a bit like a GameBoy Advance. Way better

I recently bought a Retroid Pocket 2 from GoRetroid for USD 132.00 including all shipping and taxes.

I've made a few crossings on the ferry since then and it's been really nice. I used to play my GameBoy (Advance) almost every day on the bus to school. I loved it. Getting this back is a huge throwback.

It's a lovely little machine. It feels well built, the buttons are nice to use, and the battery lasts more than enough time for me.

So far I've played GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, NES, SNES, and some PlayStation 1 games on it. All have been smooth and easy to use. I did have to disable the on-screen controls, but that was relatively easy -- I just had to save it as an override to stop re-doing it every time I loaded up a game.

The only drawback is the Android OS. It sometimes gets in the way because it's just not designed to be a "console," so it asks for my Google password and such. The Retroid launcher shields you from a lot of that, but not perfectly. I understand they probably did it to get access to existing emulators, file management, etc. but it does slightly detract from the experience.

Overall, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a spot of retro gaming.
